India's Russian oil imports down 18% in February 2025
Oil exports from Russia to India moderately decreased in January and February after the United States tightened sanctions, Kommersant reports, citing S&P materials. In January, about 1.67 million barrels per day of oil was shipped from Russia to India (6.7% lower than in January-2023), in February - 1.46 million barrels per day (18.4% lower year-on-year). (18.4% lower year-on-year).
Sanctions problems have affected about 20% of India's oil imports, experts say, and hope that Russian supplies of black gold to this country will stabilize in the second part of the year.
Approximately the same picture has developed with oil shipments from Russia to China: in January supplies slightly decreased, in February they began to recover.
“NIC” notes that at a time when Russian exports to Asia are declining, supplies from the US to this region are beginning to grow. But in the current situation, Russia and the US are hardly competitors in exports of black gold, as Russian oil is sold at a discount. And the quality of oil in Russia and the U.S. is different.
